Introducing Naturist Mindfulness Certification
The International Naturist Federation (INF-FNI) is delighted to announce an exciting new initiative designed to enhance awareness, confidence, and comfort across naturist communities worldwide.
Building on our recently published guidance on naturist values and etiquette, we are introducing a new global programme:
Naturist Mindfulness Certification (NMC)
(A small step for awareness… a giant leap for towel placement)
Why mindfulness?
Naturism has always been about more than the absence of clothing. It is about respect, openness, equality—and being fully present, both with ourselves and with others.
However, even in the most relaxed environments, we have all experienced those small moments of uncertainty…
- Am I standing in the right place?
- Where should I look?
- What do I do with my hands?
Naturist Mindfulness Certification aims to bring clarity, confidence, and (where needed) a reassuring sense of calm.
What does the programme include?
The Level 1 certification is a short, accessible course covering essential elements of mindful naturist practice:
- Being present in shared spaces
(Not just physically present…) - Respectful interaction
Including the subtle art of not overthinking things - Comfort and confidence
Especially for those who are new—or suddenly aware of themselves for no obvious reason - Situational awareness
Knowing when to engage, when to give space… and when to quietly relocate your deckchair
Advanced modules (optional, but encouraged)
For those wishing to deepen their practice, additional modules will include:
- The Philosophy of “Where Do I Put My Hands?”
- Eye Contact: A Practical Guide to “Just Enough”
- Advanced Towel Placement Theory (with case studies)
- Entering a Pool with Dignity: A Masterclass
A small number of candidates may also be invited to take part in our experimental unit:
“Walking Across a Busy Terrace Without Overthinking It.”
Recognition of prior experience
We are aware that many naturists have already achieved a high level of mindfulness through years of lived experience.
Accordingly, a system of Recognition of Prior Naturism (RPN) will be introduced, allowing experienced participants to bypass formal assessment—on the basis that they clearly know what they are doing.
A final thought…
While we are pleased to be developing this programme, we suspect that most naturists already embody its principles every day:
- treating others with respect
- creating a welcoming atmosphere
- and quietly helping everything feel normal
In that sense, Naturist Mindfulness Certification may simply be a way of putting into words something our community has understood all along.
Happy 1 April!
(No certification required.)
Nice initiative Greg.. it’s today’s necessity
The ending… Good one, Gregers. Well thought and well put.
An initiative that I think I would need being a green apple in Naturism. The only naturism I ever have done is being in my own home all alone. I wonder when I will be able to get myself into a Naturist resort. I have been planning to get into one since 2023 and still have not done so
